I Got My Rock, Now I Need My Flock – 3 Point Checklist: How to Plan the Perfect Bridal Proposal
The moment I became a fiancé was so precious and memorable to me and I wanted the moment my girls became my flock/bride squad to be the same. Without a date set or a venue picked I started planning my Bridal Proposal! Here is my 3 –Point Checklist: How to Plan the Perfect Bridal Proposal:
1. Choose Your Bridal Party Wisely – My girls are all unique to me in their own special way. I’ve known one for 20 years and others for 2 years and the others fit within that window. I cherish each and every relationship. My choice for my bridal party was so seamless and almost literally done for me. My relationships have a foundation of support and love so they honestly already knew who they were.
When choosing your bridal party, think of the energy you want surrounding you during this engagement season. You want a positive and thriving bride tribe to support you on this journey. Being a bridesmaid is a significant role and should be handled as such. Definitely talk with your fiancé to make sure you both agree on the number of the bridal party. Even if you two don’t agree on the number or he has less guys on his side, there are ways around things…honorary bridesmaid is definitely a thing!!
2. Play on Your Individuality – My girls know me! I’m that extra friend! The one that loves pink, sparkles and almost anything with glitter. I could have done a bridal proposal box and mailed it to each of them and it would’ve been good. But why be good when you can be great lol I decided to throw a celebratory get together – GIRL STYLE. Who doesn’t love a good party?!?
Allow your personality to seep through in all that you do. Play on your strengths when trying to decide which avenue you want to go. Your girls already know you, so it makes it that much easier…no need to stress!
3. He popped the question, now it’s my turn!! – How exactly are you going to ask your girls to join your flock? Whether you’re sending them a box, going out for drinks , going to brunch or even throwing a party you still have to ask the question. Etsy and Amazon literally became my best friends. I got everything from there. I decided to ask my girls by way of a puzzle. It was the most unique and cute idea I had seen. It was definitely a hit.
During my search I saw everything from cards to scratch-offs and everything in between. The choices are endless. It’s always sentimental to add personal touches with names or nicknames or even a personal hand-written note. I’m the sappy type.
Once you get these 3 major points down, your bridal proposal will be a breeze and a check mark on your to-do list.
I’m still ecstatic about my bridal proposal party and I know my girls loved it…here’s a glimpse of how it all went down:
I sent them invitations about two weeks prior to the date of the get together via Evite.
On the invite it stated that we were celebrating my engagement GIRL STYLE, I’m not sure if they already knew what was up but they all seemed pretty surprised. During the weeks leading up to the celebration I prepared their custom bags containing a monogrammed glass bottle, “tie the knot” bracelet, bride squad coozie, ring pop and a unique gift significant to them. I just love giving gifts!
The day finally arrived.
We had a balloons for decorations and got chipotle as our catered meal.
The girls started arriving. I was soooo excited. After the majority of the party was there we did a quick ice breaker introducing ourselves and how long they knew me and then played “The Saran Wrap Ball” game. This game is so much fun and it is customized by you or the person who makes it. It was definitely a success and got us all laughing, chatting and mini gifts at the end.
Once the game was finished the girls went to their personalized bags and opened them. I think at this point they were looking like what’s going on lol. After some discussion, I called my two honorary bridesmaids to help me with another game – Who Can Put Their Puzzle Together the Fastest? The big question was then revealed and everyone was in awe. As my game helpers, my honorary bridesmaids received a gift as well containing their question. I had finally received the answers I was waiting for and it was the highlight of my day.
After all that excitement, we had worked up an appetite and it was time to eat. After we ate, it was time for the Bachelorette Party location reveal. (Yes, there was a lot of planning ahead of time lol I sent a Google form a week before polling for dates and locations so I took that into consideration). I wanted to fit as much in during this initial get together so we were all on one accord.
To ensure we stayed organized and on point, I gave the girls calendars and revealed to them the BIG DAY – OUR WEDDING DATE! We then added some upcoming try-ons and events to the calendars together.
We ended the get together with me opening gifts and a nice competitive game of Taboo. (SN: we will definitely have a game night during my bachelorette, we had so much fun! )
Well that’s all folks, that’s my rundown of how I celebrated my girls and got my flock. It was an awesome experience and the perfect way to kick off my engagement journey. Looking back, we did a lot to make this happen and yes I say “WE”. I definitely didn’t do this alone. (A piece of advice – get people in your corner who will help and support you even without a title or public recognition.) Team work makes the DREAM work and my dream definitely came to life.
Whatever you do for your bridal proposal, make it special. You want this to be a momentous journey, as it will be no matter what, but the small details make it that much better.
Be Blessed. Be Bold. Be BeYOUtiful.
