It’s Not A “No”, It’s A “Not Right Now” – 3 Valueable Lessons to Focus on During Your Waiting Season
So they call us the microwave generation and we just want everything now. Well, that’s kind of true but I don’t think it’s fully our fault. We grew up on the microwave. We fed ourselves with the microwave; Hot Pockets, Ramen noodles, and Kraft macaroni cups…they were all we knew at one point. Therefore the microwave is literally our friend; we didn’t choose it, it chose us.
Now don’t get me wrong, the microwave still works great and I’m sure we still use it occasionally, but there comes a time in your life when the oven just makes more sense. The oven, it’s a slow steady process and in this thing called life that exactly what we are on. Life is a journey, not a race. During our journey we have sprints, skips, hurdles, and even a steady pace along the way. I think we can all handle those moments as they come. What about the moments when you don’t like you’re moving, when you don’t get the call, when you don’t get the job, when you don’t get the thing that you felt was next on your journey, it’s not a “no”, it’s a “not right now”…It’s Your Waiting Season.
Your waiting season is a test of your resilience. Your waiting season is critical and should be handled as such. It may seem like a sad time and like things aren’t happening, but it’s honestly true preparation for next. It’s what you do in this season that catapults your next move. Here are 3 valuable lessons to focus on during your waiting season:
Patience: We all know patience is a virtue. No one wants to hear that when they are in the midst of needing it thought, but it’s so true. During this time it is essential that you embody patience. As hard as it may be, hold fast that your next is coming. Far too many times we work ourselves up worrying about what’s to come or what isn’t, I know I have. We lose sight of where we are on the way to where we are going. Be patient in the rest, you’ll need the strength for later.
Gratitude: Gratefulness is a lifestyle. You may not be where you are, but I bet you’re farther than you’ve ever been. There’s a saying that goes something like this: if everyone put their problems in a pile and you looked around at what everyone else was really dealing with, you would gladly pick back up YOUR problems. Walking in gratitude allows you to appreciate all stages of your journey even the ones unknown. Find joy in the now.
Selflessness: In world that’s so self-centered, it’s refreshing to be selfless especially in the midst of a wait. Take this time to not think about yourself. Use your waiting season to help push someone to greater, you’ll be surprised how it stirs up something within. To truly serve others selflessly brings peace like no other and in turn minimizes that one thing that you thought was so great before you. You’ll be surprised how the world looks when you take your eyes off of just you.
Whether you’re waiting season is in a part of your life or the entire thing, know that you are notalone. We’ve all been there and it’s an inevitable part of the journey…your journey…my journey.
When you feel like you need a little boost, you know my favorite thing to do…PRAY. Pray until something changes and then keep praying.
You got this love…we got this!!
Be Blessed. Be Bold. Be BeYOUtifiul.
