Stronger than Yesterday: What 2018 Taught Me
Christmas has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the fun stops. Things are just getting started, as we gear up for 2019. We are 6 days away from ringing in the new year and that’s ample time to make sure we have ourselves together for what’s coming at us next!
Before we get into our goals for 2019, let’s reflect on 2018. This year has been a whirlwind and a very quick one at that. I’ve learned some valuable lesson during these 360 days. Here are the six lessons that 2018 taught me:
1. Trust God with EVERYTHING – I know it may sound “cliché” but trusting Him is the ultimate way to peace. Constant worrying and trying to figure out every little detail will drive you crazy, believe me I know. So I learned quickly to truly let go and let God 🙌🏾
2. Self-Confidence is a major key 🔑 – Confidence, confidence, confidence…I think we all have the one thing that we struggle with and mine happens to be self-confidence. I didn’t think it was such a major issue, but I discovered that it was and I had to tackle it head on. Finding self love was a journey for me! 😩 I’m happy I conquered that beast.
3. Enjoy MY journey – Nowadays it’s so easy to get distracted with social media. We constantly see the wins of others and it can get draining and allow you to mismanage your own journey. This year I had to fall in love with MY journey and learn to appreciate my baby steps. Remember, a win is a win no matter how big or small it may be.
4. “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail” – This quote relates to my entire life. From budgeting to blogging and everything in between. This year I learned the hard way what it’s like not to plan and what it’s like to not follow the plan I made. I would hear this quote and say that’s nice, but it’s truly the background of my life now…planning is key!!
5. Keep my circle tight – I LOVE people. I enjoy meeting new people, talking and making people feel welcomed. But, people change. This year didn’t change me, but it made me more aware. I’m still the same bubbly person, but my circle is tighter than ever.
6. It’s OK to say no – It’s taken me a minute to get here. I was forever saying yes to someone or something. I would drive myself crazy with tasks of others and end up too tired to work on me and what I wanted for myself. This year I had to learn the beauty in saying no to others and saying yes to myself. It was freeing. It allowed me to open my schedule for the things that I enjoy and that is a major part of self-love.
This year helped shape and mold me for what’s NEXT!! Although it was trying at times, I’m grateful for the trials, they made me stronger than yesterday. 💪🏾
What has 2018 taught you? Have you learned any valuable lessons this year that will propel you to greater heights in 2019?
I’m excited 😆 for what’s to come in these next couple of days. I know 2019 is going to be amazing for all of us and I’m counting down and waiting with great expectation.
Be Blessed. Be Bold. Be BeYOUtiful.
